Dreams & Goals Make Futures

"The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams." -Eleanor Roosevelt

What are some of your dreams and aspirations (hopes) in life? What do you want for yourself? What do you want for others? What would help make those dreams a reality? Step outside the box on this one; don't just write the usual stuff about wanting millions of dollars, being a celebrity, or things like that. What are some of the accomplishments you could strive for that would make a major mark, or even inspire future generations of young people?

For bonus credit, find a powerful quotation about dreams or goals and add it to your discussion.

  1. I am a person that loves a large family and wants everyone to stay in touch no matter what. Ever since I was younger, for some reason, I always dreamed of having a huge family and being able to care and provide for them the best way that I could. Though families are not like the ones on television, I want a family that is just as loving and respectful as the family for Full House or Family Matters. I love children and some day when I have children I want them to have I life, family, and home that I wished I had. A home that is filled with pictures of everybody on the wall, a family that rarely argues, has an understanding of one’s feelings so they can express themselves without being judged, and can interact with each other, and a life that is easy as long as they have respect, and puts effort into their academics and personal goals.
Everything I do now, I do for my potential family. I get high grades in school, and participate in any extracurricular activities because it gives me a higher chance of getting into college with a full scholarship. Getting into college and passing the courses with at least a master’s degree will allow me to get a well paying job with benefits and rewards, enabling me to buy a home and settle down. From there “Love Will Find A Way”-Christina Aguilera, hopefully. What also prepares me for my goal is my motherly attitude, but what I need to work on is my social skills and self-confidence so I can feel comfortable around people. It seems a bit too early to start dreaming and planning to have kids when I am one myself, but I want to give someone what my mother was not able to give me. I love kids and I am eager to have a family so I can make them happy.

  2. Dreams are something you can accomplish by sticking to your goal and working hard. Beside the common dream I want to have is a good career such as becoming a psychologist, I would like to support my family in the future and my future family. I would also like to attend college to become a psychologist. At first when I was younger, I thought I didn’t want to attend college because people put me down and says it’s too much work, cost a lot of money, need high grades, etc. The way the world is today and the job hiring, most jobs will like to see that you attend college instead of earning your high school diploma. When I got into middle school and now especially high school, I change my mind and I will like to attend college and become a psychologist. I will also like to support my family now because economy is in hard times and my family took care of me for all these years, so, I will like to return the favor and help out my family in hard times. I will also like to support my future family such as if I have children when I am older so they may have a bright future.
I will also like to help others such as helping my community because I grew up in my community and people have helped me when I need help, so, again I will like to return the favor. It makes me feel like a good person when I help somebody out especially a person who needs help because it’s the right thing to do. I will also like to help people because I never know if somebody needs to help me out in my hard times in the future so I help everybody that I can help such as the homeless.
I will make these dreams become a reality by starting now. Such as, getting high grades in school, doing community service, helping out at my church, helping my school, etc. This also benefits my life as well as other people. Not only I help myself, but other around me which make me feels good about myself.
To future generations of young people, always follow your dreams. Don’t let people bring you down as a person and if they do, continue to follow your dream. Another message is to get the highest possible education because knowledge is power and education will help you for the rest of your life.
“Keep away from people who try to belittle your ambitions. Small people always do that, but the really great make you feel that you too can become great.” – Mark Twain

  3. Everybody has dreams and to achieve those dreams you have to be dedicated, confident, and you have to work very hard. Dreams don't just come to you, you have to work for them in order to achieve them. That is what most people fail to realize. One of my dreams in life is to become successful and to become a role model so that people can see me as someone they can look up to. I really haven't chosen one specific thing yet that I want to be when I grow up but all I know is that I am going to work hard at it. I would also love to go to a good college to finish my education and so that I can have a good career. My education always comes first because to have a successful life, education is the key to success. So, it is best that I start now because it's really no time to waste. For others, I would also love for them to follow their dreams instead of just sitting there and letting your dreams fade away. If you set a certain goal, stick with it and just do what you have to do because nobody is going to do it for you. Dreams are meant to be achieved or at least attempt to achieve them. That is the only way for a dream to become a reality.

  4. My future hopes and dreams are to simply be a very happy person. Many people wish for fame and fortune but does that really and truly make someone happy? I think not. When you look at many celebrities today behind all the glitz and the glamour many of them are not happy. You see many celebrities on drugs or talking about how hard their lives are because someone always wants to take their picture or talk to them when all they want is privacy. We might look at them and say oh my gosh I would love to be this person or that person but you don’t know what that person’s life is truly like. Your life might be amazingly wonderful compared to theirs. If some celebrities had the choice they wouldn’t want all the fans and so much media attention as long as they are doing what they love. I believe that eventually way too many people are going to want to be celebrities not because of the love of what they are doing but because of the recognition; we pay way too much attention to celebrities and not enough to people who are changing the world and making it a better place. Steps that would make me have my dream of being happy are completing college, not only completing it but doing well. I also want to become a therapist which is very hard work but I’m willing to do it if I can achieve my goals. I want to travel and live a very exciting life. After doing that I want to also help people whatever I can. I want to donate my time to people who want better lives but need someone there to help them out, I want to be that person. Later on after I have had my fun and I’m financially stable I want to settle down and have kids. I also want good people around me that can support me and that I can trust. My dreams and goals might not sound big or important to others but to me it’s everything because it’s what I want and I hope that nothing comes in the way of that. All I really want to is to live a happy good life.

  5. The quote "The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams." -Eleanor Roosevelt; makes me think about my goals. Just like everyone else in the world, I have dreams and goals I would like to achieve in the future. Even though they say money cannot buy you happiness, it would be lovely to be rich and famous, so I may be able to supply better for my family. My Main dream would to have a wonderful carrier as either a lawyer or a doctor. In order to achieve this goal, or make my dream come true I would have to do great in school and keep heading in the same positive path; so I may have a wonderful happy family. I can become a doctor that may find a cure for aids, or even a lawyer that will keep bad off the streets for good. My main goal would be to help the less fortunate if I actually succeed at becoming rich in any of the carriers. I think by getting a lot of money and actually doing something positive with it, there would be generations that would want to follow. There is a lot I would say I want for myself, such as having a complete family, and owning my own successful law firm business, maybe, even a recognizable doctor office everywhere around the united states; even the world. I would say I ask more for others then myself, I want others to be able to do good on their own and not being able to depend on anyone, I want that goal mainly for my kids I will have in the future. For my parents I want them to continue to be in my life. For my distant family I would want them to be much closer then what they are now. The only way the goals/dreams I have set aside may come true is if I continue with my education, because that is the only way I will be able to get a good job and get paid good money. Dreams and goals may come true as long as you continue on the correct path.

  6. To make my mark on the world I don’t think that I will have to accomplish many things. I just think that I will have to focus on one thing and excel at that. That will be the key to my success in this world. I do plan on becoming a psychologist. As I have said before I would really enjoy getting into the mind of the most disillusioned individuals in America. That would definitely be something to aspire to. Just to see what made them do what they have done. What affected their psyche enough for them to decide that they would want to rape, mutilate, and kill people? The stress they may have been put through may have been the reason. In my opinion I don’t think that I have to be famous to make an impact on the world. I just think that even if I do little things that I will be successful in this world. By helping out my community that can guarantee that I am doing something good. Many people believe that you have to be a celebrity to make an impact on the world. That’s not the truth, just because they contribute a few dollars to a charity does not mean that they have done so much it just means that they were fortunate enough to pass along the money. If everyone had that same amount of money they would be giving to charities also. Their travelling to third world countries also is a given sign of them rubbing their wealth in the faces of us lower class citizens. I believe that you can make a large impact on the world if your head is in the right place and you have the right people backing you up. If you don’t have the right support you’re destined for failure, unless you’re strong enough to pull yourself out of the trouble that you have been placed in.

  7. I have many hopes and dreams for the future but my main goal that I am aiming to achieve is to help any individual with any type of social problem they are faced with. I am not sure about the career path that I want to take but I am sure about what I want to do to help benefit my society. I know that many teens today struggle to get “their voice” out to adults because some adults are, boldly or unknowingly, ignorant towards what a teenager feels. Teenagers are at a certain age where they can be listened to as adults as well as a child but some adult do not know how to give teenagers both the adult and child role at the same time. When this happens there is a serious communication problem between adults and teenagers. I want to gap this bridge that adults have with teenagers when it comes to communication because the bond a parent shares with their child should be sacred and shouldn’t be broken because the parents do not understand.
In the future I also want to have a financially stable family with only one or two children. I feel with many children, you can not connect with them or ever have time to bond with them to get to know them individually well. Having a financially stable family also defeats a lot of problems relating to debts.
To accomplish my goals I plan on going to college and most like majoring in psychology or human services. I plan on getting my masters degree before starting my family. My main goal with my family and everything I do in the future is having stability while helping people with their social problems. This has been my goal for a long time. In my opinion I believe that this is a “perfect” life and I want to live this life. I would try hard to pursue this goal by studying hard and staying in school. By doing this I can be a psychologist or a counselor and have a small and stable family as well.

  8. At this time in life, all teens have a dream that they would like to pursue and make reality. Along the way, a lot of us get distracted by things that are not important, and let ourselves get carried away. We let the distractions take our eyes off the goal at hand, and twist our priorities around. There are rules and restrictions that are set in order to prevent that from happening, and sometimes we look past the purpose for those rules.

As for myself, I have plenty of goals to keep myself motivated, and I always have a backup plan. My dreams and goals in life are to simply be successful. I will do everything in my power to make sure that my goal is achieved, and make sure that I have a plan to achieve it. As life goes on, a time passes, I hope that I am strong enough to let the distractions fly past me and focus on the prize. Some of the things that will make happen for me, and have also already got the ball rolling, are my parents. My parents are my motivation, and they have instilled strong will in me since I was a kid. Without their unconditional love and support, I would not be as determined to succeed as I am now. They have always taught me that knowledge is incredibly valuable, and that I can achieve my dreams and be successful by cherishing the knowledge I attain.

Unfortunately, not all teens in my age group have parents they can look to for advice and support. One of my goals, is to make the teens of my generation, and future teens, realize how important it is to value education. Teens nowadays have these unrealistic goals, which they know cannot be achieved without education. In order to gain the success needed to live comfortably in this world, one must achieve their goals.

There are many things I want in life, but are uncertain of. I don’t really know what I want to be in life. I don’t want to be a doctor since I hate seeing organs, I don’t want to be a lawyer or politician since reading a lot isn’t my thing. I always wanted to be a fireman or a game designer. I want something that kind of gives me something to look back on or thing of for a long period of time. For others I want is for equality and the right for at least a middle class life. I really hate to see homeless people on the streets asking for money, kind of makes me want to give my wallet to them. What I want to accomplish is to succeed my parents, become what they never were able to become in there youth. I don’t necessarily want to become a celebrity, but it wouldn’t hurt to have a little money. What would make my dreams a reality would be education, and getting involved in the community and try to make a difference? It always helps to make a difference because you never know what good things might come knocking at your door. What major makers I would strive for future youths in America is the power to keep going, don’t let nothing stop you, not even your own family stop you from doing what you want to do. I would try to tell them the only way they can get what they want in life, is through the struggles of education. I would try to tell them don’t just go for silver, go for gold. Silver is just a minor accomplishment when gold is what everyone wants but difficult to obtain. I hope that my accomplishments would tell youth that what I’ve went through when I was young, doesn’t mean I’m going to live in it for ever. Only you can make a change in your life, the question, are you going to? Are you willing to? Are you even trying to, because try is succeeding.

  10. In my life i have made many dreams and goals. I tend change most them as everyday goes. Yet, there is one goal i have that never changed and will forever be with me. This goal is for me to look at my life when older and smile. I want to be happy and proud of what i have done and accomplished in my life. No regrets or sad stories just happy memories. Besides my goals i dream to be very successful in life. I plan to not have to depend on NOBODY for anything when i get older. I plan to also be very wealthy and to have my own little happy family. I order for me to accomplish this i will have to finish high school with good grades and go to a good college. I dream to be alive to see the age 100 so i can live see my children grow tall and successful also. I hope to live so long with a blessing to see a change in the United States. I even dream to see my loved ones live a long healthy life too. I pray, dream and wish very often and i hope all i do will some day come true.

Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world.

  11. Most kids these days dream to be singers, movie stars and famous actors. This is mostly due to the images shown on television like Hannah Montana. But gowning up when i did and around the parents I did, I aspire to be a top lawyer, maybe own my own law firm. I want to be happy and successful and I would hope the same for everyone else in life. Going to college and law school would be my best bet to achieve this. I would have to work extra hard work. I would love to be a successful black woman and have younger females look up to me and see that not only men can be successful in life.

  12. For me i don't want to be a singer, actor,or nothing big,but since i was younger i've always wanted to be a nurse or pediatrician because i know with the right amount of knowledge i can save a life or cure a disease that has never been cured before. Some of my friends think i dream to big sometimes, But to me their is no such thing as dreaming to big because some big dreams never turn out how you want them to. For others i want for them to live their life and try to stay out of trouble,Because as my mother always said all things happen for a reason but don't make it so the reason is because you are being stupid. As a Older sister I always tell my lil brothers and sister that you can be anything you wanna be as long as you do what you supposed to do and don't let anybody tell you otherwise. Some achievements i Hope to strive for is to be one of the first to find a cure for a common disease and to be one of many to be a hall of famer for saving a life. I hope to be a role model for people that want to make a change in the world or that actually wanna make a difference in someone's else's life

  13. I’m not really definitely sure of what I want to do when grow up. I do know I want to have a career in the medical field. I want for myself to make a good amount of money and a steady job. I don’t really have to be famous; I just would want to be able to support my family. And I would like for others to be able to do the same. Something that would help me make this a reality is to obviously have good grades. It’s easy to get good grades but when you are distracted that’s when people grades go down. I also have to study hard and love school. 8 to 10 years of school is a lot of school, that’s most of a person’s life in school. You must love school for that. And you have to have a lot of confidence, never give up. An accomplishment I can have is like having a perfect success rate for whatever medical job I do. If I have a perfect success rate then I would be looked up to by future generations. This what I aspire to do be a successful person. I also aspire to help people whenever I can. People will always remember people that helped them out. My dream in life is to help America’s society in some way. I just want to help people. I would want future generations to look at me like a big hero like martin Luther king or Malcolm x. I just want kids of the future and am inspired of me and encourage them to be a great person their selves. I think it is a possibility that this could happen. Anyone can achieve any thing if they really work hard at it. Michael Jordan once said, “I’ve always believed that if you put in the work, the results will come.” I agree with this quote and it must be valid because Michael Jordan is now a legend of basketball. I really think my dreams and aspirations can be achieved. It just takes a lot of hard work.

  15. My dream right now is just to finish high school and go to a good college. The college i would like to go to is Boston university. The reason is because a career I really want to do is become a bio technician and Boston university has a huge science field. The reason i would like to be a bio technician is because i love science. I would love to be able to see what is like to alter a human body or to change a cell to make it work in a completely different way than it originally was. I would also like to become a bio technician because they help others, they find cures or new diseases that can help people. It would also help me to become financially stable, and if i were to have a family it would help me to be able to take care of them with no problems or worries of where i would get the money from. The way i can achieve this dream is by doing good in school. I really want to do good in high school so i can get noticed by colleges all around. Alot of people have dreams but only few actually are persistent. Always dream big and dont do just what you have to do to get by, do more do all that you can, and if you do that there is a huge chance you will acheive your dream.

“A life spent making mistakes is not only more honorable, but more useful than a life spent doing nothing at all.” - George Berward Shaw

Many people feel as if they are adrift in this world. They work hard, but don’t seem to get anywhere worthwhile. A key reason why they feel this way is because they haven’t spent enough time thinking about what they want from life, and haven’t set themselves formal goals. To avoid being one of those many people who encounter such disconsolate feelings I often take timeouts and think about my purpose in life and what I hope to gain in the future. My most pivotal aspiration that I hope to attain in life is to pursue a career in the field of medicine. It as been my life long dream to become a neurosurgeon and help others who are less fortunate than I am, both health wise and financial wise. Becoming a neurosurgeon requires considerable amount of work, dedication, and endless hours of studying. However, with the support from my family, the assistance from my teachers, and the influence from my peers I am likely to fulfill my dream.
Parents can often be infuriating and embarrassing at times but no one actually knows you more than they do. Having a healthy relationship with my parents can prominently contribute to my success considering the fact that they make most of the wise decisions and always seem to know what is best for me. Teachers on the other hand are almost like your second parents. They offer you the necessities you need to face the daunting world ahead and ensure that you make the most out of life. With their stupendous knowledge and their precise methods of teachings, my teachers are the ones who hold the key to unlock my future goal. They offer me the wisdom and understanding and it is up to me to make the most of it. Friends in some ways can help you to achieve your goals. If they are positive influential friends that share the same common goals as you do, they are most likely to lead you in the right direction. My friends are friends that motivate, encourage, and inspire me to attain my goal. Furthermore, we all have a common goal and that is to make the best out of any given opportunity.
The reason why I am so persistent to become a neurosurgeon is because my family lacks the experience of professions in the medical field and becoming one of the first doctor would be a major accomplishment. Also, I would want to provide a positive impact on the future generations of young people instead of directing them on the wrong path.
